A closer view of your pond
A viewing window brings the life beneath the surface into view, whether you are building a raised koi pond or adding a feature to a formal garden. Our pond glass is made to your finished dimensions in the UK, using toughened, laminated and heat-soaked glass.
Choose the glass
Start with the water depth, panel width and how the glass will be supported. See the thickness guide below before choosing a specification.
Measure and price
Enter your finished glass dimensions for a panel price including VAT. The calculator also offers optional black installation sealant.
Plan the delivery
Allow a typical 2–3 weeks for manufacture and delivery. Check your postcode and arrange safe offloading before ordering. Read the delivery guidance.
Not sure about the opening or support? send us your measurements and a sketch before ordering — we can help you check the details before your bespoke glass is made.

Choosing your pond window
The right panel is about more than its overall size. Water depth, the span of the glass and the design of the surrounding wall all need to be considered together. Use this guide to narrow down the options, then check the finished specification before ordering.
Pond glass thickness guide
These are our general selection guidelines, not a structural calculation or approval for an individual build. Use the water depth acting on the window, not just the visible opening height.
| Glass thickness | Guide water depth up to |
Guide panel width up to, unless stated |
|---|---|---|
| 21.5mm | 400mm | 1600mm |
| 25.5mm | 600mm | 2000mm |
| 33mm | 1000mm | Around 2000mm |
| 39mm | 1000mm | 3000mm |
| 44.5mm | 1200mm | 3500mm |
For wider panels, deeper water, an angled window or an unusual support arrangement, send us your measurements and a sketch. Do not treat a thicker panel as a substitute for a properly designed frame or rebate.
Measure the glass, not just the opening
The visible opening and the finished glass panel are different sizes: the glass overlaps the surrounding rebate. Confirm the completed opening, waterproofing and support detail before giving us the final glass dimensions.
For our usual open-top, fibreglassed rebate installation, we work with a 50mm × 50mm cut rebate, approximately 10mm clearance at the left, right and bottom edges, and suitable packers below the glass. The approximately 8mm sealant bed behind the glass face is a separate measurement. These are our usual installation details, not a universal specification for every pond.
View the measuring diagram and window calculator for the distinction between the opening, glass and rebate. Open-top windows are normally sealed along the bottom and two sides; a four-sided window needs its own installation detail.
Choose your installation sealant
The window calculator lets you add black Pond Bond Adhesive & Sealant, Gold Label or AquaForte. Each option shows the cartridge size and current price per tube including VAT, the estimated tube quantity and the sealant total separately from the glass.
Sealant is added as a separate basket item, and you can include spare tubes. The estimate needs checking against your actual joint dimensions and installation method. Follow the chosen product’s preparation and curing instructions; confirm compatibility with your liner, coating or fibreglass surface.
Planning a liner pond? Agree the glass-to-liner connection before ordering a made-to-measure box-weld liner. The liner, window support and sealing detail need to be designed together.
Ordering and delivery
- Confirm the specification. Check the finished panel width, height, thickness, water depth and support arrangement.
- Get your price. Enter the dimensions in millimetres on the product page. The calculator shows the finished panel price including VAT, with a £200 minimum per panel.
- Add sealant if needed. Review the estimated quantity and separate total.
- Check delivery before paying. Read the postcode, access and offloading requirements and acknowledge them on the product page.
Made-to-order glass typically takes 2–3 weeks, although timing can vary. Please allow for manufacture before booking your installer.
Delivery is kerbside, and glass is supplied without packaging. Arrange suitable lifting help or equipment for the panel’s weight and access route; do not assume the driver can unload it or carry it through the property. Check the size, specification and visible condition on arrival. A failed delivery may incur a redelivery charge.
Some areas have additional delivery charges or need a quotation, including AB, BT, CT, DD, DG, EH, FK, G, IV, KA, KW, KY, ML, PA, PH, PL, TD, TN23–TN30 and TR. Check the current postcode and offloading information on the product page before ordering.
A few more useful answers
Why toughened, laminated and heat-soaked glass?
Each has a different role: toughening strengthens the glass; the laminate helps retain fragments if it is damaged; heat soaking reduces the risk of spontaneous breakage. The panels have polished edges and finished corners. None of this removes the need for correct specification, sound support and careful handling.
Can I fit a window into an existing pond?
It may be possible, but cutting an opening changes the wall and waterproofing. Have the structure, rebate and sealing detail assessed first. Liner, fibreglass, concrete and timber constructions need different preparation; larger panels and retrofit projects are best discussed with an experienced pond builder before glass is ordered.
What about infinity windows, unusual shapes or other applications?
Raised ponds and open-top viewing windows are common uses. For a full-width panel, unusual shape, angled installation, below-ground viewing area, swimming pond or aquarium, send the project details for assessment rather than assuming the standard guide applies. Ask us about low-iron glass if colour and clarity are particularly important to your design.
How do I keep the glass clear?
Remove algae and surface deposits with a suitable non-abrasive pad or glass-cleaning tool, keeping grit away from the surface. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive scrapers and pressure washing around the seals. Check the seals as part of routine pond maintenance. Persistent cloudiness within the laminate or visible damage needs assessment, rather than simply more cleaning.
Can you help with the pond build as well?
We are a small independent pond business and can help you work through the measurements and products before you order. We also offer a koi pond building service within our service area. For help with your project, send the dimensions, water depth, location and a sketch through our contact form.
