Oase AquaActiv SediFree Pond Sludge Remover 500ml
Active oxygen and bacteria for organic silt on the pond floor
SediFree uses two complementary components to work on soft organic sludge. The granulate sinks into the deposit and releases active oxygen; high-performance microorganisms then break down the oxidised organic material.
It is most appropriate for leaf debris, fish waste, uneaten food and other decomposable silt. It is not a substitute for physically removing deep, compacted mud, gravel, stones or a large accumulation that would overload the pond if disturbed all at once.
What this treatment is designed to do
- Targets organic sludge and foul-smelling silt deposits.
- Two-component oxygen and bacterial action.
- Helps reduce long-term turbidity caused by decomposing material.
- Works naturally through oxidation and biological breakdown.
- Treats ponds up to 10,000 litres.
How to use it responsibly
Remove large debris first, shake and dose exactly as the pack directs, concentrating on the affected areas. Results are most dependable from around 12°C upward, when bacterial activity is stronger. Maintain oxygen and filtration and follow the current instruction for UVC operation during bacterial treatment.
- Do not use it to avoid vacuuming a heavily silted pond where disturbed sludge could threaten fish.
- Cold water slows bacterial breakdown.
- Do not treat an oxygen-poor pond without first correcting aeration and circulation.
Calculate the real water volume after allowing for shelves, stone, pipework and filter chambers. If fish are distressed, oxygen is low or the water values are unsafe, stabilise the system before carrying out non-essential cosmetic treatment. Always retain the batch label and follow the current pack instructions, because formulation and regulatory directions can change.

Use it as part of the whole pond system
For physical removal, browse our pond vacuums. Compare other sludge and waste treatments, and consider OxyPlus where the pond needs measured oxygen support.
No bottled treatment replaces adequate filtration, oxygen, sensible feeding and routine removal of organic waste. Used for the correct problem, however, it can be a useful part of a measured maintenance plan rather than a guess-and-hope fix.
Frequently asked questions
Will it remove stones or mineral sediment?
No. Its biological action is aimed at decomposable organic material, not gravel, sand or compacted mineral debris.
Does it work in winter?
Breakdown is slower in cold water. Oase states ideal conditions begin around 12°C.
Should I vacuum first?
For thick or unstable deposits, physical removal is usually safer and faster. SediFree is better for manageable residual organic silt and ongoing control.
