Choose the measurement and range your routine needs
The HI983044 measures electrical conductivity up to 20.00mS/cm. It uses a graphite sensor and automatic one-point calibration with the specified 12.88mS/cm standard.
Compare the range with the conductivity you expect. Millisiemens and microsiemens are different units: 1mS/cm is 1,000µS/cm. A higher range is not automatically the better choice for a low-conductivity sample.
| Specification | Details |

| Conductivity range | 0.00–20.00 mS/cm |
| Resolution | 0.01 mS/cm |
| Accuracy | ±2% of full scale |
| Calibration | Automatic, one point |
| Named calibration standard | 12.88 mS/cm, HI70030 |
| Temperature compensation | Automatic over 0–50°C |
Measuring a water sample
Prepare the tester as instructed, immerse the sensing area to the specified level and wait for the reading to stabilise. Rinse between different samples so you do not carry one sample into the next. Record the result with the parameter, units and temperature where relevant.
Calibration and sensor care
Rinse the conductivity sensor between samples and use the correct EC calibration standard. Follow this EC tester’s cleaning and storage instructions rather than applying a pH-electrode routine to the graphite sensor.
Match the calibration solution to this model and the measuring mode. A pH buffer or a photometer reference cuvette is not an EC/TDS or ORP calibration standard. Keep standards clean and follow the manufacturer guidance on re-use and storage.
Supplied pack and ongoing use
Check the exact supplied pack for the tester, sensor, batteries, protective cap and starter solutions. Starter sachets are for setup; allow for the appropriate replacement standards and care products as you continue using the instrument.
The measurement is one part of a testing routine. It does not replace checks for other parameters, and a number on the screen does not identify every water-quality problem. Use the method that measures the parameter you need.
