What you will still need

Plan the installation before excavation

Mark the finished water level first

Use a laser or water level to establish the intended water line around the entire pond. A small error at this stage can leave liner visible on one side or force an unnecessarily high edge on the other. On sloping ground, decide where excavated soil can be used safely and where retaining work may be required.

Keep the skimmer and BioFalls serviceable

Both units are designed to be disguised, not buried beyond reach. Leave enough room to lift the skimmer lid, remove its basket, reach the pump and access the filter media in the BioFalls. Do not place immovable rocks across parts that will need cleaning or replacement.

Protect the flow route

Plan the pipe route before placing the liner and rockwork. Avoid needless tight bends and protect buried pipe from sharp stone, crushing and future digging. The supplied pipe length is part of the kit specification; if the waterfall must sit farther from the skimmer, confirm the additional length and hydraulic effect before extending it.

Think about maintenance from the viewing position

Place the waterfall where it can be seen and heard from the main seating area, but consider prevailing wind and splash. Put the skimmer where wind naturally carries surface debris when practical. Provide a safe route to both units so routine maintenance does not involve stepping across wet or unstable rock.
