ProTeam iX Full Inverter Pool Heat Pumps

High-output Wi-Fi pool heating with stepless compressor control, quiet modes and options for small to very large pools

The ProTeam iX is a full-inverter heat-pump family, not a single fixed-output box. It combines a twin-rotary inverter compressor with a brushless DC fan so the machine can run hard during initial warm-up and then reduce speed as the pool approaches temperature.

That modulation is useful in a real garden: lower-speed running can reduce noise and electrical input during temperature maintenance. Boost, Smart and Silent operating choices let you decide whether fast recovery, everyday efficiency or quieter operation has priority.

The range extends from plug-fitted residential models to large twin-fan units requiring a professional electrical supply. We size every variation from the pool duty and cold-condition table.

What the ProTeam iX Adds

The ProTeam iX offers heating and cooling, smart defrost, built-in Wi-Fi and a titanium exchanger suitable for normal chlorine or compatible salt-pool water within specification.

Smaller iX variations are commonly supplied as plug-and-play models; higher outputs and twin-fan versions need an appropriate fixed electrical installation. Always confirm the selected variation.

Use the Cold-Weather Line, Not the Best COP

Very high COP figures are measured when air and water conditions favour the heat pump and the inverter is running gently. For spring and autumn sizing, the A15/W26 line is much more informative; for colder use, check lower-temperature data and defrost behaviour.

A heat pump can operate below freezing without delivering its warm-weather output. Build that reduction into the selection.

Position for Airflow and Neighbours

Give the intake and discharge the clearances in the manual and point cold exhaust where it cannot recirculate. Use a level anti-vibration base and drain condensate safely.

Wi-Fi is useful for checking temperature and modes, but it does not compensate for a weak signal or incorrect plumbing.

Our advice: choose the smallest iX that comfortably meets the cold-condition duty, not the warmest-day marketing figure.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of compressor does ProTeam iX use?

The range uses a full DC twin-rotary inverter compressor with a brushless DC fan motor.

What operating modes are available?

Current UK listings describe Boost, Smart and Silent choices, plus heating/cooling functions.

Does ProTeam iX have Wi-Fi?

Yes. Current models support app control through the specified Wi-Fi platform.

Can it cool the pool?

Yes, selected iX models provide heating and cooling modes.

Are smaller models plug fitted?

Several smaller UK variations are supplied for suitable plug-and-play installation; confirm the exact model package and circuit.

Do large iX units need three phase?

Some high-output variations have different supply requirements. Check phase, current and model data before ordering.

What does Silent mode do?

It limits operating output to reduce fan and compressor noise, so warm-up may take longer.

Why is the COP shown as a range?

An inverter changes speed, and COP also changes with air and water temperatures.

Is the exchanger compatible with salt pools?

The titanium exchanger supports suitable salt-pool use within the published chemistry limits.

Can I install the unit close to a fence?

Only if all intake and discharge clearances in the manual remain available.

Does a larger iX always warm the pool more cheaply?

No. Oversizing can raise purchase and electrical requirements; compare annual duty and modulation.

What information do you need to choose an iX model?

Pool dimensions, cover, target temperature, season, location, flow, pipework and electrical supply.

Why is a pool cover so important?

Most heat escapes from the water surface. A suitable cover can reduce heat loss dramatically and may change the heat-pump size and running cost.

Does the headline kW stay the same in cold weather?

No. Heat output and COP change with air temperature, water temperature and humidity. Compare the cold-condition performance for your season.

What does COP mean?

Coefficient of performance compares heat delivered with electrical input at stated test conditions. It is not a fixed year-round efficiency figure.

Why is a bypass useful?

A correctly set bypass helps keep flow through the heat exchanger within the permitted range and makes isolation and servicing easier.

Is water beneath the outdoor unit a leak?

Often it is normal condensate from the evaporator, especially in damp weather. Check that it is clear water and that the condensate drain is unobstructed.

Can the unit be enclosed in a shed?

Normally no. It needs the manufacturer clearances and unrestricted outdoor airflow; recirculating cold exhaust air reduces output and efficiency.

Who should install the electrical supply?

A qualified electrician should provide the correct protected circuit, isolation and cable sizing. Plug-fitted models still need a suitable outdoor supply.

How do I prevent frost damage?

Follow the exact winterising instructions. If the circulation is stopped, drain all trapped water from the heat exchanger and pipework.

Can you help size a heat pump?

Yes. Send water volume, surface area, target temperature, months of use, location, cover type, filtration flow and electrical supply.

Should chemical dosing enter before the heater?

Follow the installation manual; dosing equipment is normally placed downstream so concentrated chemical cannot enter the heat exchanger.

Why does flow matter?

Too little flow can cause faults or poor heat transfer; too much can exceed the unit limits. Use the specified range for the exact model.

How long will initial heating take?

It depends on water volume, starting and target temperatures, weather, cover and the unit’s output at those conditions. Maintaining temperature is easier than the first warm-up.
