A broad choice of inverter models for pond and pool heating
Thermotec Edge is the successor to the Thermotec Pro range, with horizontal air discharge, inverter control and Wi-Fi. Compare the individual capacities and electrical versions below for year-round pond or pool heating, then confirm the winter duty, circulation and available supply.

Choosing a Thermotec Edge heat pump
Compare capacity and electrical phase together
The Edge range includes both single phase and three phase versions at some capacities. Read the full title and supply specification before comparing prices or replacing a heater. The three phase version requires a suitable three phase circuit. An electrician should check circuit protection, cable design and available supply capacity for the exact selected model.
Winter pond heating with Edge
The heating water setting range is 9–40°C and the published operating air range is −15–43°C. These are control and operating limits, not guaranteed pond capacities. For a covered pond held at 12°C through winter, account for the water surface, cover, insulation, local weather and exposed pipework or filtration. Supplier pond-volume guides are a starting point, and should be checked against the conditions of your installation.
Understand the output figures
Edge specifications distinguish normal inverter output at different air temperatures. For example, the 30kW single phase model has a normal range of 4.000–30.00kW at 27°C air and 26°C water, compared with 3.300–24.20kW at 15°C air and 26°C water. Its recommended water flow is 12.4m³/hour. Check normal operation separately from boost figures and compare models at matching test conditions.
Horizontal airflow and water connections
The Edge installation diagram calls for 1,500mm clear in front, 500mm above, 700mm at each side and 300mm behind. Check the diagram against the actual orientation of the unit. Position it so cold exhaust air cannot recirculate into the inlet. Install after the circulation pump and filter as directed in the manual, with a properly arranged bypass and isolation for balancing, servicing and draining.

Heating output is not electrical consumption
kW can describe either the heat delivered to the water or the electricity used, so check which figure is quoted. In performance tables, A refers to air temperature and W to water temperature, in degrees Celsius. COP compares delivered heat with electrical input at a stated test condition. Compare like-for-like figures rather than using the highest advertised efficiency to predict your annual bill.
Before you order
Measure the water volume and surface area, decide on your target temperature and heating season, and note the cover and insulation. Check the available electrical supply, delivered water flow and outdoor installation space. A suitable cover can reduce the heat that must be replaced. Tell us about exposed filters, pipework and wind so that these are included in the recommendation. During frost, follow the manual’s circulation and drain-down instructions; switching an idle heater off does not remove trapped water.
