FD Koi Food

FD Mighty, Build Up Extra, Colour Emphasise and Supplement

Compare FD’s UK range, including floating and sinking Build Up Extra, Mighty, Colour Emphasise and Supplement. The named formulas have different recipes, guaranteed analyses and feeding instructions.

Use the product options for current pack choices, price and availability. The guidance below helps you compare the range.

Choosing FD Koi Food

Mighty is a floating 5.7 mm food with a stated 10°C lower feeding threshold. Build Up Extra has separate floating and sinking presentations and UK guidance allowing feeding down to 5°C, with much smaller portions as fish activity falls. Colour Emphasise and Supplement should be chosen using their own directions rather than borrowing another FD formula’s temperature rule.

Build a feeding routine around the pond

Measure water temperature in the pond. Begin with small portions and watch what is eaten before adding more. Reduce feeding when appetite falls or water quality deteriorates. Increase the ration gradually as conditions improve, particularly after a quiet winter period or a change to the filter.

Check that smaller or quieter fish receive food as well as the most active feeders. For sinking food, observe the area below the surface. Count any treats within the daily ration and remove uneaten food.

Pack size and freshness

Choose a quantity that can be used while fresh. A larger pack is useful only if it suits the feeding rate and can be stored correctly. Litres measure volume and kilograms measure weight; compare declared food weights where possible. Keep food sealed, cool and dry, use a dry scoop and follow the pack’s best-before date.

Questions about FD Koi Food

Are FD Build-Up floating and sinking the same format?

No. Choose the feeding depth deliberately and inspect the selected pack option. The two listings share the declared core analysis, but the sinking pellets must be monitored below the surface.

Does every FD food have the same minimum temperature?

No. Build-Up is described from 5°C, while Mighty has a 10°C threshold. Use each formula’s own feeding directions; the brand name alone is not a temperature rating.

How should FD Colour Emphasize fit into a feeding routine?

Use the product’s colour-feeding guidance and count it within the overall ration. The distributor gives a 50:50 mixing example. Avoid increasing the total quantity simply because two foods are being combined.
