Garden pond redesign in Istead Rise, Kent
Decided our pond needed improving so went for a complete redesign. Hard work and unexpected finds later, it is exactly what we imagined. Fish are well impressed, birds and other wildlife are happy. Highly recommend That Pond Guy.
Sue wanted a complete redesign of her garden pond in Istead Rise. Her May 2025 review describes how it turned out. The photograph here is from our return for maintenance in September 2026, showing the pond more than a year later.
About this visit
Where: Istead Rise, Kent
Work: Pond redesign and later maintenance
When: 2025 renovation; photograph from September 2026
Keeping the character of the garden pond
The agreed rebuild involved reshaping the pond, fitting new underlay and liner, and reusing the original rocks alongside additional stone. The plan also included moving the existing filter and incorporating the stream. Sue’s review gives her account of the finished pond.
We returned for maintenance in September 2026. That visit included cleaning the existing filter, cutting back the plants, changing the net and tidying the pond. The photograph shows the pond during that later maintenance visit.
