Designed for pump fed configurations, it combines precision mechanical separation with powerful biological processing. As a result, it delivers consistent water clarity while reducing ongoing maintenance.

With filtration capacity of up to 260,000 litres for ornamental ponds, 150,000 litres for fish ponds and 60,000 litres for koi ponds, the DF L supports high stocking levels. Therefore, it is well suited to serious koi keepers and professional pond builders.

Automated Drum Technology with Modular Biological Expansion

At the centre of the DF L Pump Fed system sits a 60 micron stainless steel drum screen. As water is pumped into the drum chamber, the screen captures suspended solids, organic waste and uneaten food. Consequently, mechanical filtration occurs before water reaches the biological stage.

When debris accumulation begins to restrict flow, the integrated microcontroller activates the automatic cleaning cycle. High pressure spray jets rinse the drum surface and flush collected sludge into the waste discharge channel. As a result, the system continues operating without manual cleaning and without interrupting circulation.

Following mechanical separation, water moves into the integrated moving bed module filled with Oase Hel X bio media. This high surface area media supports beneficial bacteria growth, which breaks down ammonia, ammonium and nitrite. Therefore, biological filtration remains stable even in heavily stocked koi systems.

In pump fed installations, the DF L operates at flow rates up to 25,000 litres per hour. However, the same platform can also support gravity configurations up to 33,000 litres per hour. Furthermore, the modular design allows expansion with additional moving bed modules or discharge modules for specialist media such as Zeolite or phosphate control products.

The integrated digital controller manages automated cleaning cycles and displays real time pond temperature. Consequently, system monitoring remains precise and user friendly. The GRP Duroplast and stainless steel construction ensures long term durability in demanding environments.

UV sizing and maintenance notes

Oase ProfiClear Premium DF L Pump Fed OC should be matched to the pond volume, flow rate and water clarity problem you are trying to solve. UV clarification works best when water passes the lamp at a suitable speed and the quartz sleeve is kept clean. If the flow is too fast, contact time can be reduced. If the lamp is old or the quartz sleeve is dirty, performance can drop even when the unit still appears to be switched on.

• Replace UV lamps as part of routine seasonal maintenance.
• Clean or inspect the quartz sleeve when water clarity starts to deteriorate.
• Match the UV to the pump and filter rather than installing it in isolation.
• Allow safe access for lamp changes and winter maintenance.

Good UV performance also depends on mechanical filtration. Removing fine debris before the UV helps the lamp work on green water algae more effectively.
