Complete Pontec air-pump sets for ponds
Pontec PondoAir complete sets provide mains-powered aeration with the core airline and diffuser components selected as a package. The PondoSolar Air 150 Plus is a mains-free alternative for daylight oxygen support in a suitable small pond or water feature.
The two systems are not interchangeable in purpose. Use mains-powered aeration where fish or biological filtration depend on predictable output; use solar where variable operation is acceptable and the panel can see direct sunlight.
Why pond depth changes the result
An air pump must overcome water pressure and diffuser resistance. As the air stone is placed deeper, delivered airflow falls. Choose from the actual depth and required output, and avoid a clogged ultra-fine diffuser that pushes the pump beyond its comfortable pressure range.
Set up the airline safely
Keep a mains pump dry and ventilated, preferably above water level. Use a correctly oriented non-return valve where siphoning is possible. Avoid crushed airline and locate the diffuser where it creates circulation without leaving fish nowhere calm to rest.
For more powerful systems, compare all pond air pumps. Add manifolds, valves and replacement diffusers from air-pump accessories.
Frequently asked questions
Does PondoAir include airline and air stones?
Complete-set contents vary by model, so check the individual product specification for the exact quantities.
Will PondoSolar run at night?
Check the exact model. Direct-solar output stops without sufficient light; never assume battery operation.
Can I put the air pump outside?
Only with the dry, ventilated protection specified by the manufacturer.
How deep can the air stone go?
Use the model’s pressure and depth guidance. Output reduces as depth increases.
Do I need a non-return valve?
Yes wherever water could siphon back towards the pump.
Can aeration replace filtration?
No. It supports oxygen and circulation but does not remove solids or provide complete filtration by itself.
Should I aerate at night?
Continuous night aeration can be particularly valuable because plants do not produce oxygen in darkness.
Why is one air stone weaker?
Check unequal airline lengths, manifold adjustment, a kink or a partially blocked diffuser.
