The Oase ProfiClear Premium DF L Gravity Fed OC Drum Filter is a professional grade self cleaning filtration system designed for large koi ponds, ornamental ponds and high demand aquatic environments. Engineered for gravity fed installations at pond water level, it delivers powerful mechanical and biological filtration while maintaining efficient energy usage. As a result, it is ideal for serious koi keepers and commercial pond applications.

Designed to handle up to 260,000 litres in ornamental ponds, 150,000 litres in fish ponds and 60,000 litres in koi ponds, the DF L provides substantial filtration capacity. Therefore, it supports stable water quality even in heavily stocked systems.

Intelligent Drum Technology with Modular Biological Expansion

At the core of the DF L Gravity Fed system sits a 60 micron stainless steel drum screen. As water flows naturally by gravity into the drum chamber, the screen captures suspended solids, uneaten food and organic debris. Consequently, mechanical filtration takes place before water reaches the biological stage.

When debris accumulation begins to restrict flow, the integrated microcontroller activates the automatic cleaning cycle. High pressure spray jets rinse the drum surface and flush collected waste into the discharge channel. As a result, the system continues operating without manual intervention and without disrupting pond circulation.

Following mechanical filtration, water enters the integrated moving bed module filled with Oase Hel X bio media. This high surface area media supports beneficial bacteria growth, which breaks down ammonia, ammonium and nitrite. Therefore, biological filtration remains stable and efficient under higher stocking densities.

The DF L Gravity Fed system operates at flow rates up to 33,000 litres per hour in gravity configurations. In addition, the modular design allows expansion with additional moving bed modules or individual chambers for specialist media such as Zeolite or phosphate binding products. Furthermore, the durable GRP Duroplast and stainless steel construction ensures long term structural integrity.

The integrated digital control unit manages automated cleaning cycles and displays real time pond temperature. Consequently, system monitoring remains simple and precise.

UV sizing and maintenance notes

Oase ProfiClear Premium DF L Gravity Fed OC should be matched to the pond volume, flow rate and water clarity problem you are trying to solve. UV clarification works best when water passes the lamp at a suitable speed and the quartz sleeve is kept clean. If the flow is too fast, contact time can be reduced. If the lamp is old or the quartz sleeve is dirty, performance can drop even when the unit still appears to be switched on.

• Replace UV lamps as part of routine seasonal maintenance.
• Clean or inspect the quartz sleeve when water clarity starts to deteriorate.
• Match the UV to the pump and filter rather than installing it in isolation.
• Allow safe access for lamp changes and winter maintenance.

Good UV performance also depends on mechanical filtration. Removing fine debris before the UV helps the lamp work on green water algae more effectively.
