Kasco Floating Lake Aerators

Surface aeration and V-shaped aerating fountains for ponds, fisheries, estates and commercial lakes

Kasco offers two useful approaches to floating aeration. Dedicated Surface Aerators prioritise high-volume water movement and oxygen transfer, while VFX Series Aerating Fountains add a clean V-shaped display without giving up the strong circulation that makes them functional equipment.

That distinction matters. A display fountain is often chosen by appearance; an aerator should be chosen from the lake problem, water depth, area, oxygen demand and electrical installation. VFX is the crossover where the customer wants both an attractive feature and meaningful surface aeration.

These are project products rather than ordinary garden-pond accessories. We recommend discussing the lake and site before ordering so that cable length, mooring, power supply and seasonal operation are considered with the aerator itself.

Surface Aerator or VFX Aerating Fountain?

Kasco Surface Aerators push a large volume of water into the air with function taking priority over a decorative spray pattern. They suit fisheries, wastewater lagoons, farm ponds and lakes where oxygen transfer and circulation are the main objective.

The VFX Series creates the manufacturer’s characteristic V-shaped pattern. Kasco describes it as a crossover between a surface aerator and a fountain, making it suitable for hotels, golf courses, estates and visible lakes where the aerator must also look deliberate.

What surface aeration can achieve

Surface aeration mixes the upper water, increases contact with the atmosphere and helps release unwanted gases. It can support fish welfare, reduce stagnant surface areas and improve conditions for aerobic biological processes. It does not automatically circulate every deep layer of a stratified lake.

Where deep-water oxygenation or full-depth turnover is the primary aim, a diffused-air system may be more appropriate or may be used alongside a surface unit.

Installation is part of the specification

A floating aerator needs safe mooring, sufficient water depth, a suitable electrical supply and cable protection. Allow for changes in lake level and prevailing wind. Position the unit so the plume has open water around it and does not throw spray onto paths, buildings or planting.

Commercial and public sites may require additional electrical design, controls, signage and risk assessment. Confirm the current UK product specification rather than relying on horsepower or voltage information from overseas literature.

Talk to us about the lake, not only the machine

Tell us the lake dimensions, average and maximum depth, fish stock, power location and what problem you want to solve. We can then help distinguish a decorative VFX installation from a dedicated surface-aeration project and identify the other equipment the site needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Kasco VFX fountain?

It is a high-flow floating aerating fountain that produces a V-shaped display while providing substantial surface movement and aeration.

How is a surface aerator different?

A dedicated surface aerator prioritises oxygen transfer and circulation rather than a decorative spray pattern.

Can VFX units improve oxygen levels?

Yes. Kasco designs VFX as an aerating fountain, though exact performance depends on model and site conditions.

Will a surface aerator circulate the lake bottom?

Not always. Deep or stratified lakes may need diffused aeration for targeted full-depth circulation.

Can I add lights to a VFX fountain?

Compatible Kasco lighting is available for selected units. Confirm the exact model and UK electrical compatibility.

How deep must the water be?

Minimum depth varies by model. Kasco publishes shallow operating depths for some units, but use the UK specification for the exact product.

How is the unit held in place?

Floating aerators are normally moored from suitable anchor points so they can respond to water-level changes without drifting.

Can it run all year?

Seasonal operation depends on water conditions, freezing risk, maintenance and the exact instructions.

Will aeration cure algae?

Aeration can improve circulation and oxygen conditions, but algae also depends on nutrients, sunlight and lake ecology.

Is a timer suitable?

Some installations use scheduled operation, but fish welfare and oxygen demand may require longer running. Specify controls as part of the project.

Can the aerator be installed near a path?

Consider spray drift, public access, electrical safety and noise before choosing the position.

Do I need three-phase power?

It depends on the selected unit. Kasco produces different power options; confirm the UK model and site supply.

How often is maintenance required?

Inspect screens, propeller areas, cable and moorings regularly and follow the current manufacturer service schedule.

Can one aerator serve a large irregular lake?

Possibly, but bays and deep areas can remain poorly circulated. More than one unit or a different aeration method may be needed.

Can you help with specification?

Yes. Send us lake dimensions, depth, purpose, electrical supply and photographs or plans.
