By integrating a 60 micron stainless steel drum screen with Hel X 13 moving bed biological media, the Compact M provides both immediate solid waste removal and continuous nutrient breakdown. Therefore, it is particularly suited to serious koi keepers who require consistent, professional level filtration performance.

Intelligent Drum Technology with Integrated Biological Processing

At the heart of the Compact M sits a precision 60 micron stainless steel drum screen. As water flows by gravity from bottom drains and skimmers into the drum chamber, the screen captures solid waste, uneaten food and fine suspended particles. Consequently, mechanical filtration occurs before water reaches the biological stage.

When debris accumulation begins to restrict flow, the automated cleaning cycle activates. High pressure spray jets rinse the drum surface and flush collected sludge into the discharge channel. As a result, the system continues operating efficiently without manual cleaning or interruption.

Following mechanical filtration, water enters the integrated moving bed chamber filled with Hel X 13 bio media. This high surface area media supports beneficial bacteria growth, which breaks down ammonia, ammonium and nitrite. Therefore, biological filtration remains stable even under higher stocking densities.

The Compact M Gravity Fed is designed to operate alongside the Oase ProfiClear Compact M Pump Chamber, which houses pumps and UVC units within the gravity system. We recommend pairing it with 2 x Oase AquaMax Gravity Eco 10000 pumps and 2 x Oase Bitron Premium 60W UVC clarifiers for optimal performance. In addition, the system is compatible with the Oase Control platform, allowing digital monitoring and remote management.

Oase ProfiClear Premium Compact M Gravity Fed OC should be chosen as part of the complete air system, not just by litres per minute. Airline length, airline bore, diffuser depth, manifold taps and back pressure all affect the real airflow that reaches the pond or filter. A well matched aeration system runs more quietly, puts less strain on the pump and gives more dependable oxygen support.

• Use suitable airline size for the pump output and distance involved.
• Keep the air pump dry, ventilated and protected from flooding.
• Spread airflow across multiple diffusers on larger ponds where possible.
• Check diaphragms, filters and diffusers during routine servicing.

For koi ponds, moving bed filters and warm weather aeration, consistent airflow is often more useful than simply oversizing the pump. Balanced diffuser placement gives better circulation and helps avoid stagnant areas.
