Flagship High Capacity Drum and Rotating Biological Filtration System

The Filtreau Excellent Combi Drum 80/100 XXL Mountain Tree is the most advanced filtration system in the Filtreau Excellent range. Designed for heavily stocked koi ponds, estate lakes and professional installations, it combines industrial mechanical separation with a rotating Mountain Tree biological system and dual high output UV sterilisation.

This is not a standard combi drum. It is engineered for extreme biological load, high feeding regimes and large scale systems where stability and clarity are critical.

The system is suitable for gravity fed installations, making it adaptable to new builds and retrofit projects alike.

Mechanical Drum Filtration

Water enters the unit through 7 x 110mm inlets and passes through a large Ø650 x 800mm stainless steel drum fitted with a precision 70 micron screen.

Solid waste, uneaten food and suspended debris are removed immediately before they can break down. As the screen begins to restrict flow, a stainless steel float switch activates the automatic cleaning cycle. Two industrial 130Nm SPG motors rotate the drum while the internal 750W high pressure rinse pump powers the spray nozzles. Waste is flushed directly to drain.

Because solids are extracted at source, ammonia spikes are reduced and the biological stage remains significantly cleaner and more efficient.

Maximum flow rate is approximately 80m³ per hour, with a recommended pond volume of up to 160m³ depending on stocking density.

Mountain Tree Rotating Biological System

What separates this model from a standard 80/100 XXL is the integrated Mountain Tree rotating biological drum.

This system includes:

• Lotus Root Bacteria House II
• Mountain Tree Spiral Filter Mat

The Lotus Root Bacteria House II media features a porous lotus root structure with nanopores that create an extremely high surface area for beneficial bacteria. Its mineral properties also assist in stabilising water parameters and supporting koi growth.

The Spiral Filter Mat uses a patented 3D spiral structure that promotes strong oxygen circulation while reducing the risk of clogging.

Unlike traditional static bio chambers, the Mountain Tree media rotates within a dedicated biological drum. This movement increases oxygen exposure, prevents channel formation and keeps biofilm active. As a result, nitrification efficiency improves and long term biological stability is enhanced.

Six integrated air diffusers support aggressive oxygenation within the biological section. We recommend the Charles Austen ET200 Airpump for this filter system.

Dual High Output UV Sterilisation

The system includes 2 x 80W High Output stainless steel immersion UV units operating at 253.7nm.

These suppress algae spores, reduce pathogen load and maintain clarity at high flow rates. The dual configuration ensures effective sterilisation even when running near maximum capacity.
