The Filtreau Excellent Combi Drum 25/30 Gravity Fed delivers professional grade self cleaning filtration for larger koi ponds and high demand ornamental systems. It provides consistent water clarity while reducing manual maintenance.

This gravity fed model combines drum filtration, twin biological chambers and an 80 watt High Output UV clarifier within one compact unit. As a result, it offers both strong mechanical separation and reliable biological processing in a single system.

It suits koi ponds up to 30000 litres and ornamental ponds up to 60000 litres. Therefore, it performs reliably in demanding aquatic environments with heavier stocking levels.

The unit handles flow rates up to 30000 litres per hour. Consequently, it supports strong water turnover in heavily stocked koi ponds. The gravity fed configuration includes 3 x 110 mm inlets and 2 x 110 mm outlets. This allows direct connection to multiple bottom drains and skimmer lines while maintaining balanced hydraulic performance.

An industrial 130Nm SPG XL motor rated at 60W 220V drives the stainless steel drum. A stainless steel float switch monitors water levels continuously. When the water level changes, the drum rotates automatically while the internal 5 bar stainless steel flushing pump activates. This process removes debris from the screen and discharges waste directly to drain.

Biological Filtration and Media Configuration

The 25/30 Gravity model includes twin biological chambers with a suggested maximum combined media capacity of approximately 100 litres.

Because this is a true combination filter, the biological section divides into moving and static stages. One chamber accommodates Hel-X or similar moving bed media such as K1. When properly aerated, this media delivers high surface area nitrification and efficient ammonia conversion. The second chamber houses Japanese matting, which provides a stable structure for long term bacterial colonisation.

To ensure the moving bed section performs correctly, you must supply adequate aeration. For this reason, a Charles Austen ET80 air pump is strongly recommended. The ET80 delivers sufficient airflow to keep up to 100 litres of moving media in constant motion. As a result, it maintains optimal oxygen transfer and consistent biological efficiency. In contrast, undersizing the air pump reduces media movement and lowers overall filtration performance.

The system includes an integrated air distribution setup with 2 x 50 x 300 mm air bars. These bars distribute air evenly throughout the biological chamber. Biological media is supplied separately, which allows you to configure the system according to stocking density and pond load.
