How SeDox Controls Algae at the Source

SeDox works by permanently binding free phosphate in the water. After application, it converts phosphate into insoluble apatite. Because algae cannot use apatite as a nutrient source, their growth becomes naturally limited. At the same time, aquatic plants can absorb apatite through their root systems. Therefore, plant growth improves while nuisance algae reduce.

This makes SeDox particularly effective for long term blanketweed control. Blanketweed thrives in phosphate rich conditions. However, when phosphate levels remain low, its growth slows dramatically. As a result, repeated outbreaks become less common and overall water clarity improves.

SeDox provides slow and controlled phosphate binding for up to six weeks, depending on nutrient levels. During this period, it helps reduce phosphate concentrations below 0.035 milligrams per litre. This level is widely recognised as the threshold above which excessive algae growth occurs.
