The Burtons 3 Tier Stainless Steel Bakki Shower 1000mm is a high performance biological filtration system designed to improve pond water quality and oxygen levels. Bakki shower filters work by passing pond water over highly porous filter media while exposing it to large amounts of oxygen. As a result, beneficial bacteria remain highly active and able to process fish waste efficiently.

This filtration method increases dissolved oxygen levels within the water while helping remove carbon dioxide and other unwanted gases. Consequently, pond water becomes clearer and healthier for fish.

The three tier design allows water to cascade through multiple layers of biological filter media. As the water flows through each tray it spreads evenly across the media before dropping into the tray below. This cascading process maximises oxygen exposure and improves biological filtration performance.

How Bakki Shower Filtration Works

Bakki shower filtration uses a simple but extremely effective biological filtration method.

First, pond water enters the spray bar located inside the lid of the filter. The spray bar then distributes water evenly across the top tray of filtration media.

Next, the water flows down through each tray while remaining exposed to air. This process allows carbon dioxide and other unwanted gases to escape while increasing oxygen levels within the water.

At the same time, beneficial bacteria living on the filter media break down ammonia and nitrite produced by fish waste. As a result, the pond maintains stable and healthy water conditions.

Three Tier Stainless Steel Shower Design

The Burtons 3 Tier Stainless Steel Bakki Shower features three full depth trays designed to hold biological filter media.

Because the spray bar sits inside the lid, the trays can be filled completely with filtration media. This increases the available surface area for beneficial bacteria to colonise.

The cascading water movement ensures that all filter media remains well oxygenated. Consequently, bacterial colonies remain highly active and biological filtration performance improves.

Recommended Filter Media

For best results we recommend using Burtons Far Infrared Shower Media inside the trays. This ceramic media provides excellent surface area for beneficial bacteria while allowing water to flow freely through the filter.

Many pond keepers also combine Far Infrared Shower Media with Burtons Bio Block Media across different trays within the shower filter. This combination increases biological diversity within the filtration system and improves filtration stability.

Depending on the media used, approximately 16 to 20 kg of filter media per tray will usually provide effective coverage.
