Attraction Waterlily (Nymphaea ‘Attraction’)
A bold red flowering waterlily with golden centres, perfect for adding vibrant colour, shade and wildlife support to larger garden ponds.
Attraction Waterlily (Nymphaea ‘Attraction’) is one of the most popular and reliable red waterlilies available, known for its vivid blooms and strong performance in UK ponds. With its large, eye catching flowers and lush floating foliage, it creates a stunning focal point while also playing an important role in maintaining a healthy pond ecosystem.
This variety produces large, star to cup shaped flowers in a rich red colour, often accented with subtle white flecking and bright golden centres. These blooms open fully in sunlight and sit proudly above the water surface, creating a striking contrast against the surrounding greenery. Flowering from June through to September, Attraction provides a long lasting and consistent display throughout the warmer months.
The foliage is made up of glossy green lily pads that spread across the water surface, offering excellent coverage. This natural shading helps reduce sunlight penetration into the pond, which in turn helps limit algae growth and stabilise water temperatures. As a result, Attraction Waterlily not only enhances the appearance of your pond but also contributes to clearer, healthier water.
With a spread of around 80 cm to 120 cm, this is a larger waterlily that is best suited to medium to large ponds. It provides substantial surface coverage and works particularly well when combined with other aquatic plants to create a balanced planting scheme.
Attraction thrives in still water and performs best in full sun, where it will produce the most vibrant flowers and strongest growth. It is also highly beneficial for wildlife, providing shelter for fish, shade for amphibians and landing spots for pollinators.
Fully hardy in UK conditions, this waterlily will return year after year with minimal maintenance. Its combination of bold colour, strong growth and ecological benefits makes it a dependable choice for any pond.
If you are looking for a classic, vibrant and high impact waterlily, Attraction is an excellent addition to any water garden.
