Rössle Biber 22 Power Brush

Professional Pond Wall Cleaning for Swimming Ponds and Koi Ponds

The Rössle Biber 22 Power Brush is one of the most effective powered pond wall cleaning systems available for removing algae, biofilm and organic deposits from vertical pond walls. Designed and manufactured by German pond maintenance specialists Rössle, it combines a motor driven rotating brush with simultaneous vacuum extraction to deliver fast, efficient and professional cleaning results.

Unlike a standard pond brush, the Biber 22 does far more than simply loosen algae. When connected to a compatible Rössle pond vacuum, it scrubs the surface while simultaneously removing the waste. This creates a cleaner working environment, helps maintain water clarity and significantly reduces the amount of debris left behind in the pond.

Whether you’re maintaining a large koi pond, a natural swimming pond or a formal water feature, the Biber 22 dramatically reduces the time and physical effort required to clean vertical walls.

One of the key features of the Biber 22 is Rössle’s Vacugrip technology. As the brush rotates, it naturally pulls itself against the pond wall, creating its own contact pressure. Rather than constantly pushing the brush onto the surface, you simply guide it where you want it to go. This makes cleaning much easier while maintaining even pressure across the wall for consistent results.

With a 22 cm working width and a lightweight telescopic GRP pole extending from 2.5 to 5 metres, the Biber 22 provides excellent reach without sacrificing manoeuvrability. It works exceptionally well on fibreglass ponds, rendered ponds, concrete walls and lined ponds, making it one of the most versatile powered pond brushes available.

Faster cleaning with clearer water

Traditional pond brushes simply scrub algae from the wall, leaving the loosened debris suspended in the water. This often creates cloudy conditions and means much of the dirt eventually settles back onto the pond floor.

The Biber 22 works differently.

When connected to a compatible Rössle pond vacuum such as the Fango 2000, Torpedo or Torpedo Ultra, loosened algae, biofilm and debris are immediately removed through the integrated suction connection.

This creates a turbidity free cleaning process, helping to keep the water clear throughout the job. Instead of brushing first and vacuuming afterwards, both tasks happen simultaneously, saving time while producing a noticeably cleaner result.

The integrated switch unit also allows you to reverse the direction of the brush during operation. This makes it easier to clean around corners, edges and awkward areas while maintaining complete control of the machine.

Because this model is mains powered, it delivers continuous performance without interruption, making it ideal for larger ponds, commercial installations and lengthy cleaning sessions where battery run time could become a limitation.

Built as part of the Rössle professional cleaning system

The Biber 22 has been designed as part of Rössle’s professional pond maintenance range and shares components with the Rössle Bisam 44 floor cleaning brush.

The telescopic pole, power supply and accessories are interchangeable between both machines, making it easy to expand your equipment as your maintenance requirements grow.

For professional pond maintenance companies and larger private pond owners, this provides a flexible cleaning system capable of tackling both pond floors and vertical walls using compatible equipment.

Where the Biber 22 performs best

The Biber 22 is particularly effective on:

  • Swimming ponds
  • Natural swimming pools
  • Koi ponds
  • Formal raised ponds
  • Fibreglass ponds
  • EPDM and butyl lined ponds
  • Concrete and rendered ponds
  • Large ornamental ponds
  • Display ponds
  • Water features with vertical walls

It is especially valuable wherever algae and biofilm build up on vertical surfaces that are difficult to clean using a pond vacuum alone.

  • Rössle Biber 22 power brush unit
  • Switch unit for directional control
  • GRP telescopic rod 2.5 to 5.0 metres

Choosing the Right Brush Head

The Rössle Biber 22 uses interchangeable brush heads, allowing you to tailor the cleaning performance to different pond surfaces and levels of algae growth. Every Biber 22 is supplied with the Soft Yellow Brush as standard, while additional brush heads are available separately for more demanding cleaning tasks.

Selecting the correct brush not only improves cleaning performance but also helps protect delicate pond finishes. Whether you’re cleaning fibreglass, EPDM liner, concrete or natural stone, there’s a brush designed for the job.

Soft Yellow Brush (Included)

The yellow brush is supplied with every Rössle Biber 22 and is the best all round choice for routine pond maintenance.

Its soft bristles effectively remove algae, biofilm and light debris while remaining gentle on fibreglass, pond liners and other sensitive surfaces. For most koi ponds, swimming ponds and garden ponds, this is the brush you’ll use most often.

Best for:

• Routine maintenance
• Fibreglass ponds
• EPDM and butyl liners
• Painted and rendered pond walls
• General algae removal

Hard Red Brush

The red brush offers a firmer cleaning action for ponds where algae growth has become more established.

It removes stubborn biofilm and heavier deposits more quickly than the standard brush while still providing excellent control.

Although suitable for many hard surfaces, extra care should be taken on flexible pond liners as harder bristles may mark softer materials.

Best for:

• Heavy algae growth
• Rendered ponds
• Concrete ponds
• Fibreglass ponds with stubborn deposits

Very Hard Green and Red Brush

This is the most aggressive synthetic brush available for the Biber 22.

Designed for heavily contaminated surfaces, the combination of different bristle lengths provides maximum scrubbing performance, making it ideal for removing thick algae and stubborn organic deposits.

Because of its aggressive cleaning action, it should only be used on suitable hard surfaces and with care around flexible pond liners.

Best for:

• Thick algae build up
• Heavy biofilm removal
• Commercial pond maintenance
• Concrete and rendered surfaces

May scratch pond liners and softer finishes.

Soft Black Wire Brush

The wire brush is designed specifically for cleaning extremely hard surfaces such as granite, natural stone and exposed concrete.

The long wire bristles provide exceptional cleaning performance on mineral surfaces where synthetic brushes may struggle.

This brush must never be used on pond liners or fibreglass as it will damage softer finishes.

Best for:

• Granite
• Natural stone
• Concrete
• Masonry surfaces

Not suitable for fibreglass, painted finishes or flexible pond liners.

Which Brush Should You Choose?

For most pond owners, the included Soft Yellow Brush provides everything needed for routine maintenance.

If your pond suffers from heavier algae growth or you’re cleaning rough concrete or rendered walls, the Hard Red or Very Hard Green and Red brushes can significantly reduce cleaning time.

Meanwhile, the Soft Black Wire Brush is the specialist option for stone and granite surfaces where maximum scrubbing power is required.

Having multiple brush heads available allows you to match the brush to the surface you’re cleaning, improving results while helping to protect your pond finish.
