The Evolution Aqua Nexus 320+ is a next generation pond filtration system designed for koi ponds up to 34,000 litres. It combines high capacity mechanical solids removal with expanded biological filtration, making it ideal for heavily stocked koi ponds and larger installations and suitable for both pump fed and gravity fed isntallations.

Built around the proven Nexus design, the 320+ integrates vortex settlement, fine particle capture and a high volume moving bed bio chamber within a single system. As a result, it delivers stable water parameters, strong ammonia conversion and excellent long term clarity.

With overall dimensions of approximately 1430 mm x 1320 mm x 1025 mm, the Nexus 320+ is suited to dedicated filter bays and purpose built koi pond systems. Consequently, it is most commonly specified in medium to large koi builds where biological capacity is critical.

Mechanical Filtration with Eazy and K1 Micro

Water first enters the central vortex chamber where heavier solids naturally settle out. This reduces mechanical load and improves overall filtration efficiency.

It then passes into the Eazy chamber, which contains 20 litres of K1 Micro media. This stage captures fine suspended particles before water enters the biological section. Therefore, debris carryover is minimised and biological efficiency is protected.

The improved stainless steel slot configuration enhances flow distribution and helps prevent waste build up. As a result, mechanical filtration remains consistent and easier to maintain.

High Capacity Biological Filtration with K+ Moving Bed Media

After mechanical treatment, water flows into the outer moving bed chamber. The Evolution Aqua Nexus 320+ is supplied with 100 litres of K+ Advanced Media as standard.

Because the media is continuously aerated and kept in motion, oxygen levels remain high. Therefore, ammonia and nitrite are rapidly converted into nitrate through aerobic bacterial processes.

The 320+ can accommodate up to 300 litres of K+ Advanced Media. Consequently, it offers significantly greater biological headroom than the 220+ model. This makes it particularly suitable for larger koi collections or high feeding regimes.

Air Pump Requirements for the 320+

Due to the increased biological volume, correct aeration is essential.

For the supplied 100 litres of K+ Media, an Evolution Aqua Airtech 95 or Charles Austen ET100 provides sufficient airflow to maintain proper media movement.

However, if the chamber is expanded toward 300 litres of media, a larger air pump is strongly recommended. In this scenario, the Evolution Aqua Airtech 150 or Charles Austen ET150 ensures full media circulation and prevents stagnant zones forming within the bio chamber.

Quite simply, when maximising biological capacity, increased airflow improves oxygen transfer and enhances overall bacterial efficiency.

Recommended Circulation Pumps for the Nexus 320+

To achieve the recommended 11,000 litres per hour flow rate, pump selection must be carefully matched.

An ideal pairing for this system is the Evolution Aqua Varipump 20,000, which allows accurate flow control and energy efficient operation. This enables fine tuning based on pipework layout and pond design.

Alternatively, a high output controllable pump such as the Pontec PondoMax Eco Control 20000 can provide a cost effective solution where appropriate.

Maintaining correct flow is critical. Excessive flow reduces dwell time, while insufficient flow reduces turnover rate. Therefore, adjustable pumps offer clear advantages.

Auto Ready for Automatic Cleaning

The Nexus 320+ is supplied auto ready and includes pre installed fixings for integration with the Nexus Automatic Cleaning System for both Gravity and Pump Fed installations.

This allows the unit to be upgraded to automated cleaning without replacing the filter body. As a result, maintenance effort can be significantly reduced while maintaining consistent mechanical performance.

Nexus 320+ TI Version with Integrated UV

Evolution Aqua also offers the Nexus 320+ TI version, which incorporates a fully integrated ultraviolet clarifier within the filter body.

The TI model includes 110 watts of built in UV power housed within a titanium UV chamber. This improves durability and enhances green water control without the need for a separate external UV unit.

By integrating UV clarification directly into the filter, the TI version reduces external plumbing and simplifies installation. Consequently, it provides a cleaner and more streamlined filter bay layout.

The standard 320+ remains a highly capable mechanical and biological filtration system. However, the TI version offers improved clarity control and an all in one solution for advanced installations.
