Low-energy PondECO and remote-controlled PondECO Next RC pumps for filters, waterfalls and pond circulation
SuperFish Pond ECO covers two useful jobs: simple low-energy continuous circulation and remotely adjustable filter-pump flow. The fixed PondECO models suit straightforward systems; PondECO Next RC adds a controller that adjusts output in ten steps.
The model names do not always equal the exact maximum flow. For example, PondECO 2900 is currently published at 3,500 l/h and PondECO 4900 at 5,300 l/h. That is why we use the current SuperFish table rather than treating the digits in a title as the specification.
The pumps handle suitable suspended debris up to 6 mm and can be installed submerged or in an approved flooded dry arrangement. They are not self-priming.

The remote controller trims flow in ten steps. Set a level that still meets the filter’s minimum turnover and keeps every pipe branch working.
Submerged or Flooded External Installation
For submerged use, keep the intake above settled grit and accessible for cleaning. For external use, the inlet must stay flooded and airtight. Use the supplied connection sizes without immediately reducing to narrow hose.

Our advice: SuperFish gives good value when matched honestly. Use the performance curve and electricity figure, not the model name alone.

Can I reduce flow in winter?
Yes on an RC model, provided the reduced flow still meets biological filtration, oxygenation and frost-management needs.
Does maximum flow equal the flow through my filter?
No. Maximum flow is measured at little or no head. Lift, pipe friction and equipment resistance reduce the delivered figure.
Is maximum head a usable operating height?
No. It is the shut-off end of the curve, where useful flow approaches zero.
Should I use a larger pipe bore?
Usually yes. Generous, smooth pipework reduces friction and can improve both flow and efficiency.
Can you help size the pump?
Yes. Send the required delivered flow, vertical lift, pipe bore and length, fittings and connected equipment.
How often should a pond pump be cleaned?
Inspect it whenever output falls and during routine maintenance. Clean the intake and rotor without damaging seals or ceramic parts.
Can I run the pump dry for a quick test?
No. Prime or submerge it as instructed; even brief dry running can damage seals and bearings.
Does a controller make an oversized pump efficient?
Control is useful, but heavy permanent throttling usually means the pump or pipework should be reconsidered.
